Who We Are
The African Society of Cambridge University (ASCU) is a registered student society of the University of Cambridge, established in the 1990s. It is composed of students of African descent and individuals who share a deep interest in and commitment to Africa’s development and cultural heritage. Over the years, ASCU has become a hub for celebrating the rich diversity of African cultures while fostering unity and collaboration among its members and allies. The society envisions itself as a vibrant and inclusive community that supports its members academically, socially, and culturally, creating a nurturing environment where they can thrive. Beyond its immediate community, ASCU aspires to be a beacon of African excellence and representation within the University of Cambridge and globally, embodying the values of unity, diversity, and inclusivity through meaningful dialogue, engagement, and advocacy.

Mission & Vision
ASCU is guided by a mission to unite and empower African students and allies at Cambridge University through cultural exchange, academic enrichment, and personal development. Central to this mission is the celebration of African heritage, fostering collaboration, and providing platforms for dialogue and the promotion of African cultures and values. ASCU is dedicated to creating a community that not only supports the academic and social success of its members but also facilitates knowledge-sharing and research engagement with external partners.
